Tibet

In the year 2000 I journeyed with eight others to the sacred mountain, Kailas in Western Tibet and to the Wesak Valley for the Shamballa Impact on the May full moon.

Here are some word sharings from that journey.

Shamballa, the Hub of the World

Poetry - Upon Return

and some images.....

Yamantaka was our guide - a Tibetan deity who as 'conqueror of death' seemed a fitting wayshower on our journey to the top of the world

The breath- taking beauty of the Himalayas at dawn

From two blue tents on a dream landscape

Crossing rivers in our trusty jeep

And meeting the locals - this image summed up Tibet - a worn and troubled grey facade which if you saw deeply enough .....

.......revealed .a colourful and joyous spirit

Arriving at Kailas - the freedom pole which is re-erected every year at the Wesak ceremony

Now the journey shifts from jeep to foot with trusty yaks to help carry the load...

The Buddha's first foot print on the earth....

at a site where the sky burials are still carried out - the bodies chopped up and left for the ....is that an eagle or a vulture?

Looking down the Wesak valley from our makeshift rock altar on the May full moon in 2000

At the north face of Kailas on the kora..... Kailas is a revered pilgrimage site associated with the God Shiva

and Lake Manasarovar - the sared lake created from the 'mind of Brahma'

is the favoured pilgrimage site for many Hindu. The lake and the area around it are the source of the four great rivers that flow into the Indian subcontinent
